Storyteller
Love, as she is affectionately known by her grandson is the Dansa griot. Mama Cheryl Hinton is a member of the Griot Circle of Maryland and National Black Storytellers. She is also co-founder of MamaTalk, a storytelling duo and co-host of a Maryland Public Television show called the Talking Drum. Her stories love to weave in virtues, morals, civility,and human kindness while guiding your imagination into places where we all need to be everyday, in every way ~ living and breathing God's Love. Not only is she a storyteller, she is also a theatrical singer, actress and costumer for Wombwork Productions, Inc. and an African Dancer for Return to Goree African Dance Company and veteran of Sankofa Dance Theater.
For decades, her love of African dance and artistic apparel design and construction experience have blessed her with opportunites to incorporate her professional life as a Higher Education Administrator with her passionate life of the Arts. She has facilitated workshops on various educational topics as well instructed African dance and physical fitness for children as well as adults. Her professional dance and educational lecture experiences has allowed her to travel to West and East Africa and throughout the USA. Love, the Dansa griot, embracing the gift of the spoken word, song and traditional dance of our people.
